Steve 101: Introduction to Why I am Blogging

Wassup ya'll, (yes i am a texan and proud to be one), my name is Steve and it has been approximately 4 and half years, plus or minus a few days since I last composed a blog entry. That’s right after my friend Kevin mentioned at the start of this summer that he has started one and then allowing me to check it out, he reminded me of my old xanga as evidenced by the following link http://veryboredguy.xanga.com/. After reading through all of it (which wasn’t much), I came upon the realization of how useful blogs are. They not only bring back memories, but also show a maturation process. Yep after reading through what I wrote 5 years ago (rounded up to the nearest year) in middle school, I thought about how fast people mature. But this is just one reason why I have decided to start a blog. Finishing my freshman year of college at Cornell, I have noticed how much one can forget in one year of life events, after all, the human brain is not quite great at retaining things when there are too many things going on. Maybe I’ve decided to do this because I have nothing better to do this hot night of summer of 2011, my last and final summer as a teenager. Maybe I’m doing this because I feel the need to jot memories down so that they won’t be lost and I will understand my younger self in the future, much like now after reading through my ridiculously amateur posts of my middle school self on xanga. Ultimately, as we get older, our minds tend to forget the small things that happen in life whether its childhood or high school or even college, and when im older, I hope this blog will stay and bring back memories and I am able to look back at this as I age or get caught in a midlife crisis or when I have a family or I am on my deathbed.
So to sum it all up briefly, here are three key reasons why I am going to be blogging:
1.      1. I feel like it
2.       2.   Backup for my long-term memory processing
3.      3. Cuz I can (in America at least, according to the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution)

Last but not least, though this is a public blog platform, like my buddy Kevin, I will most likely only share this my blog’s existence with people I am close to/trust. So if you are reading this, you are most likely one of the following: someone who means a lot to me, someone who is interested in me, or just some random person who stumbled upon my life through googling me(a.k.a stalking). Either way, welcome to my life.
